Thames Water Hosepipe Ban

You will most likely have heard in the news that Thames Water have introduced a hosepipe, sprinklers and pressure washers ban commencing on Thursday 24rd July following a very dry spring and continued hot weather.

The committee has been in discussion with Thames Water over the last few weeks and we are pleased to advise you that we have finally obtained an exemption to the hosepipe ban for the whole site in respect of watering food crops.

You can therefore revert to using a hosepipe for food crops only, all other watering must still be done using a watering can.

MAGA Shop

The MAGA shop is now open every Saturday and Sunday, 10:30 to 12:30. We are currently stocked with compost, netting and other assorted goods.

West Side Plot 92 - IMPORTANT

Plot 92, which has been prone to serious flooding in the past, has had a perimeter ditch dug to help take up excess water and help drain it. The Ecology Group have made this area into a Nature Reserve and manage the plot. Flowers and small shrubs will be planted to encourage bees and many other insects. A pond has also been dug with sloping slides to encourage frogs, toads and other wildlife to visit.

Plot holders are asked NOT to enter the site due to potential water and slipping hazards, which has been cordoned off with green metal fencing and warning signs are in place.

Security reminder

In the interest of security for ourselves, our property and our produce we would ask all plot holders to co-operate by keeping the gates on both the east and west side closed AT ALL TIMES. The height barriers should always be locked straight after bringing in or exiting a vehicle, as the site is attractive to fly tippers and similar. Please remember always to bring your gate key whenever you visit your plot.

Please also insure that the gates on the West Side are closed in the proper order. There have been instances where the small pedestrian gate has been placed on the wrong side of the height barrier and consequently the gates will not close properly.
